The National System Operator (NSO) announced that the electricity supply has been fully restored across the island following the nationwide power outage reported earlier today (17).

The outage occurred at around 11.45 a.m. due to a major system failure in the transmission network, resulting in a total failure of the country's power grid.

Earlier, the NSO said electricity supply had been restored to around 50% of the areas affected by the islandwide power outage since this morning (17).

The NSO had previously stated that restoration work was progressing area by area, with electricity supply gradually being restored to affected areas.

The NSO also requested owners of rooftop solar PV systems to disconnect their systems until further notice to support the restoration process.
