Police officer found dead in Veyangoda

An inquest is underway in connection with the suspicious death of a police Sergeant whose body was recovered in Thalgasmote area in Veyangoda on Monday (8) morning, the police said.


The body has been taken to the Wathupitiwala Base hospital for the post-mortem examination in a bid to determine the cause of death, Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said.


The deceased is identified as an officer attached to the Mirigama Police station, who was a resident of Devolgoda area in Minuwangoda.
