Gold smuggled from Sri Lanka seized

Officials of India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence have intercepted two persons who smuggled gold from Sri Lanka on Thursday. 

The suspects, who took the sea route, were nabbed when they were about to hand over 3.4 kg of gold worth about 10.3 million Indian rupees to an agent.

In another case, the DRI officials seized Indian rupees 34.89 lakh from two passengers bound for Singapore via Colombo on Wednesday, The Hindu reported.
