Mt Lavinia cop arrested for accepting bribe

The OIC of the Special Crimes Investigation Unit of the Mt Lavinia Police has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The OIC was taken into custody for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a woman, an official said.
The cop in question had demanded a bribe of Rs.100,000 from the woman who is a resident of Kalubowila to arrest an individual.
The suspect will be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate today.
