Indian coast guard ship arrives at the port of Colombo

The Indian Coast Guard Ship Samudra Paheredar has arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit. The ship was ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on her arrival.

The ship’s Commanding Officer, Captain DR Sharma paid a courtesy call on Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva at the Western Naval Command Headquarters.

The visit of ICGS Samudra Paheredar is expected to provide Sri Lankan agencies with an insight into Indian Coast Guard’s capabilities and best practices in the field of Pollution Response. This would allow the two countries to develop greater confidence to work together at sea in the event of any disaster or contingency.
