Man and woman arrested with 14.3 kg of Kerala Ganja

Naval personnel have arrested a man and woman with a stock of Kerala Cannabis at two separate locations.

Accordingly, on receipt of intelligence information, naval personnel attached to the Naval Detachment of Point Pedro, along with the officials of the Department of Exercise, carried out a search and arrested a person for having 12.6 kg of Kerala Cannabis in his possession in Manalkadu beach area yesterday (11).

The apprehended suspect and stock of cannabis were handed over to the Department of Exercise, Point Pedro for further investigations.

On the same day, a woman who was transferring 1.7 kg of Kerala Cannabis from Jaffna to Pulmoddai, was also apprehended by the naval personnel attached to SLNS Gotabaya in Mullaitivu belonging to the Eastern Naval Command, in coordination with Mullaitivu Police in the general area of Chemmalei. 

The apprehended woman and the cannabis were produced to Mullaitivu Police for onward action, the navy media unit said.
