The government officials should have a backbone, Chairman of the National Delimitation Commission Asoka Peiris says.

He expressed this view while speaking at an event held in Maharagama on Sunday.

He also went on to say some ministers think that government officials are ‘some sort of creatures’ who should always obey their directives.

“Some government servants won’t hesitate to rush even though they were summoned by saying ‘ask that fool to come here,’” he said.

“Now they govern the country like a driver who drives his vehicle with his eyes closed during a dangerous situation,” he added.
