The Joint Opposition will provide evidence to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) investigating the controversial bond sale, Parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardena says.

While speaking to reporters at a press conference held in Colombo on Tuesday, he added that a request has already been made to the CoI in this regard.

Meanwhile, former Foreign Minister G.L. Peiris while speaking at the press conference asserted the country is in danger of facing an economic crisis after some of the main foreign investors have left Sri Lanka.

He pointed out Franklin Templeton, one of the world’s largest investment management firms, has sold over $1475 million worth of government securities within last 14 months.

Peiris predicted soon the exchange rate of a US dollar may rise to Rs.170 as well.
