The junior staff members of the Mawanella Base Hospital are currently engaging in a strike action.

President of the Mawanella branch of the Sri Lanka Health Service Association, Mr. Laksiri Chaminda stated that the strike began at 06.30 am today (11), protesting the arbitrary rule of the Director of the hospital.

Mr Chaminda explained that the Director had assigned the duties of the minor staff members to the nurses.

When inquired by Ada Derana regarding the issue, the Director of the Mawanella Base Hospital Mrs. N. Wijesuriya stated that the junior staff members had yet to inform her about the strike or about their issues.
