Japan to appoint special rep for sustainable development in Sri Lanka

The Government of Japan has decided to appoint a special representative to conduct coordination for the sustainable development activities in Sri Lanka.
Cabinet Secretary of Japan, Mr. Yoshihide Suga stated that plans were being made to appoint the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Hiroto Izumi, as said special representative for coordination purposes.
The Prime Minister’s Office announced that Mr. Suga stated this at a discussion he had earlier today (12) with the Prime Minister, Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe.
The discussion between the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and the Cabinet Secretary of Japan emphasized upon the issues of free naval navigation in the Indian Ocean and oceanic security.
The Prime Minister and his delegation assured that Sri Lanka was committed towards maintaining peace and security, and that they would neither assist nor facilitate any activities of a military nature.
The Cabinet Secretary of Japan, Mr. Yoshihide Suga also announced that the Japanese cabinet had given consent to host the Expo Exhibition of 2025 in the city of Osaka.
Mr. Wickremasinghe has declared that Sri Lanka would be willing to offer their fullest cooperation for the Expo Exhibition of 2025, the Prime Minister’s Office says.
