Two more arrested over shooting in Gampaha

Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a businessman, who was the target of a shooting carried out while he was traveling in a jeep in Kirindiwela, Gampaha.
The suspects, aged 36 and 37, were arrested along with a pistol allegedly used to carry out the shooting and 8 rounds of ammunition, following investigations conducted by a team of officers from the Gampaha division criminal investigations unit.
One of the arrested suspects is also wanted in connection with a murder carried out in Veyangoda. Warrents had been issued for his arrest by Polonnaruwa, Minuwangoda and Attanagalla magistrate courts.
The suspects are to be produced at the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court today (29).
Police had previously arrested two suspects along with a firearm in connection with the shooting while they are currently in remand custody.
