UN Vesak Day celebrations - Special traffic plan in Colombo

In light of the International Vesak Day celebrations to be held in Colombo, the following roads will be completely closed off or their usage limited from the 10 until 07.00 pm on the 13:

  • From Borella Cemetery Roundabout-Bauddhaloka Mawatha upto Stanley Wijesundara junction
  • From Kynsey Road junction-R. G. Senanayake Mawatha (Gregory Road) upto Maitland Crescent junction
  • From Slave Island Roundabout-James Peiris Mawatha upto Piththala junction
  • From Union Place-Dawson Street upto Beybrooke Place
  • From Hyde Park Road junction- Braybrooke Place upto area in between Muttiah Road and Park Street
  • James Peiris Mawatha junction-Jinaratne Mawatha upto Park Street junction
  • From NSA roundabout-Chaithya Road towards the Colombo Harbour

The Police request the Vesak sightseers to opt for public transport as much as possible, avoid driving in roads with traffic congestion, and park only in areas reserved as car parks.
