Section of University of Ruhuna closed down temporarily

The administration has taken steps to temporarily close down two faculties of the University of Ruhuna following a fight that broke out yesterday (22).

Reports revealed that two groups of students had gotten into a fight at the university premises last night (22).

Matara Police Headquarters stated that two students had been admitted to the Matara Base Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the fight.

In response to an inquiry made by Ada Derana, the university’s administration confirmed that the Faculty of Management and Finance and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences would be shut down temporarily.

Accordingly, the students belonging to the two faculties have reportedly been instructed to leave the university premises by the evening today (23).
