Traffic collision in Anamaduwa - one dead

The victim of a road accident which occurred in Anamaduwa yesterday (06) has been pronounced dead, Police said.

The accident had occurred in the evening yesterday (06), in front of the Mudalakkuliya Temple along the Anamaduwa - Chilaw main road.

The deceased is said to be an 80-year-old resident of Udahenegama, Nambadewa, by the name of Herath Hami.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcycle had collided with the victim as he was attempting to cross the Anamaduwa – Chilaw main rroad.

The victim was immediately admitted to the Anamaduwa District Hospital after sustaining injuries, and later transferred to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for intensive treatment, where his death occurred last night.

The motorcyclist has been arrested by the Anamaduwa Police.

Investigations revealed that the motorcyclist was a vocational teacher affiliated with the Anamaduwa Zonal Education Office.

The Anamaduwa Police Traffic Unit is conducting further investigations into the incident.
