Leader of the National Freedom Front (NFF), Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa stated that there was a plot in place to exert pressure on the Attorney-General’s Department through the new Justice Minister and imprison ten of the Joint Opposition’s (JO) leading members by filing charges against them.

He stated this during a conference held yesterday (27) at the Postal Auditorium in Kegalle.

“[Thalatha Athukorala] has been appointed as the Justice Minister to influence the Attorney-General’s Department and bury cases against the Governing party’s politicians,” he added.

“We have received information that the new Justice Minister has taken up the task of imprisoning 10 JO leaders before the Local Government polls,” the Parliamentarian revealed.
