Rs.370,000 fine imposed on Honda CBR 1000

The Horana Magistrate’s court imposed a Rs.370,000 fine on a motorcyclist who was involved in an accident on October 1, earlier today (4).
Notably this is the largest fine imposed on a motorcycle accident by the Horana magistrate’s court.
The motorcyclist and owner of the confiscated motorbike, was fined and given a one year suspended prison sentence by the Horana Magistrate.
It has been reported that the Horana Police confiscated the motorcycle and arrested the suspect following an accident that occurred three days ago. Following the arrest the sentence was passed today (4), after the motorist and the motorbike were produced before the Horana Magistrate’s court.
The suspect was charged under 12 offences including attempted hit-and-run, speeding, usage of an unregistered vehicle and possession of an improper license plate.
Reports confirm that the 1000cc Honda CBR motorbike that was confiscated was assembled illegally after parts were smuggled into the country. The motorcyclist is reportedly a resident of Horana.
