Investigations commence into the closure of Selawa Raja Maha Viharaya

An investigation has commenced into the incident of closure of Selawa Raja Maha Viharaya,Aranayaka.

Steps will be taken to re-open Selawa Raja Maha Viharaya for devotees after the investigations conclude, said Buddhist Affairs Commissioner Nimal Kotawilagedara.

Buddhist monks and devotees were locked out by the caretaker of Selawa Raja Maha Viharaya, earlier this month.

Meanwhile 250 ancient shrines will be developed parallel to the 2018 state Vesak Festival, the Buddhist Commissioner said.

The 2018 State Vesak Festival is scheduled to be held Bingiriya Raja Maha Viharaya.
