Govt removes all taxes on children’s savings accounts

The government has decided to remove all taxes on bank savings accounts of children under the age of 18, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera said.
He also said that authors’ royal fees from publishers up to Rs 50,000 per month or Rs 500,000 per year will be exempt from taxes.
The minister announced these decision at a press briefing in Colombo today (10).
