Two killed, three injured in bus-jeep collision

A road accident at the Mahalwarawa area in Kottawa has resulted in the death of two persons while injuring another three, stated Ada Derana reporter.

The accident had happened at around 6 am this morning (12) when a jeep en route from Maharagama to Kottawa collided with a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus arriving from the opposite direction.

The driver of the Jeep had been killed on the spot owing to critical injuries and another who had been on the Jeep had succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to the Homagama Hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver of the bus has been arrested by the Kottawa police over the incident.

Police suspect that the accident may have had taken place because the driver of the Jeep could not control the speed of the vehicle.
