Chief jailor of Welikada Prison Training School shot dead in Ambalangoda

UPDATE [8:05 PM]: The victim of the shooting at Kuleegoda junction in Ambalangoda was identified as the chief jailor of Welikada Prison Training School, the Police Media said.

The chief jailor, Thilina Ruwan Thihara Jayaratne, was residing in Soysa Mawatha in Kuleegoda prior to his death.

The remains of the deceased are currently placed at the Balapitiya Base Hospital.


 

One person is reported dead owing to a shooting incident that has taken place at Kuleegoda junction in Ambalangoda at around 6.00 pm this evening (03), says Ada Derana reporter.

He had succumbed to injuries after being admitted to Balapitiya Base Hospital, the police media spokesman’s office said.

Ambalangoda Police and the special crimes investigation unit of Elpitiya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
