‘Extreme caution’ heat advisory for several provinces

The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat index advisory for North-Western, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern provinces and Mannar, Monaragala districts.

Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Extreme Caution’ level at some places in North-Western, Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces and in Mannar and Monaragala Districts.

Under this level of warning, the department advises that heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible while continuing activity could result in heat stroke.
