Protest against converting Leprosy Hospital into quarantine facility

March 6, 2020   12:35 pm

Heavy traffic is reported near the Leprosy Hospital in Hendala due to a protest staged by the residents of the area.

According to Ada Derana correspondent, these residents had been engaged in this protest since 6.00 am this morning (06).

Accordingly, the protest has affected the traffic on Hekitta-Wattala road and Hekitta-Hendala road.

The Health Ministry on Wednesday announced that the Leprosy Hospital in Hendala will be converted into a quarantine facility for passengers arriving in the country from Italy, South Korea and Iran where COVID-19 is spreading at a faster rate outside of China.

The residents in the area today launched this protest raising objections to the decision taken by the Health Ministry.
