Contraband wrapped in trousers thrown over prison walls

More contraband thrown over the walls of the Kalutara Prison premises have been detected by officials, stated the Commissioner-General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya.

Officials have recovered 08 mobile phones, 10 batteries, 05 SIM cards, 04 phone charges, and 40 pieces of tobacco.

Reportedly, the contraband had been contained in two parcels wrapped in a pair of trousers.

The items had been thrown over the wall near the ‘B’ guard post of the prison.

The breach had occurred between 2.45 and 3.00 am this morning (15), stated the Commissioner-General.
