High Posts Committee approves 7 new ambassadorial appointments

The Committee on High Posts approved the appointment of seven new Ambassadors nominated by the government to serve in foreign service for the country.

The Committee on High Posts met under the patronage of the Speaker of Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena at a Committee Room in Parliament on Monday afternoon (09).

Accordingly, Mr Ahamed A. Jawad has been nominated as the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia while Mrs Aruni Ranaraja was recommended as the Ambassador to the Netherland.

Mr Dharshana Perera’s name received the nomination to serve as the Ambassador the Kingdom of Swede.

Meanwhile, Mr M.K. Pathmanaathan and Miss S.D.K. Semasinghe were nominated as the Ambassadors to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Poland, respectively.

Mrs C. A. Chaminda I. Colonne, has been recommended as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand while Air Marshal Sumangala Dias was named as the High Commissioner to Canada.

Ministers Chamal Rajapaksa, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dinesh Gunawardena, Dr Bandula Gunawardana, Keheliya Rambukwella and Dr Ramesh Pathirana, State Ministers Dr Sudarshini Fernandopulle, Vidura Wickremanayake and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, and the Secretary-General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake were present during the meeting.
