Dates for calling nominations for LG election announced

The Chairman of the Election Commission of Sri Lanka has announced the dates for which nominations for the upcoming Local Government elections will be accepted. 

 

Accordingly, nominations for a total of 340 local governments, exclusive of the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha in Galle, will be accepted from 18 January till 12:00 noon on 21 January, the Commission stated. 

 

A notice in this regard is due to be issued to District Returning Officers today (04 Jan.)

 

Meanwhile, the timeframe within which the Election Commission will be accepting election deposits for the upcoming LG elections has also been announced.

 

Accordingly, election deposits will be accepted from today (04 Jan.) till 12:00 noon on 20 January.

 

However, the Commission noted that no deposits will be accepted on 06, 08 and 15 January.

 

Applications for postal voting at the LG elections will be accepted from eligible voters from  05 January to 23 January.
