Shooting in Maligawatta leaves one person injured

An individual was left injured after being shot at by two assailants on a motorcycle this afternoon (Sept. 01).
The incident took place near the Department of Pensions in Maligawatta, according to the police.
The victim, identified as “Maligawatte Pradeep”, is now being treated at the Colombo National Hospital.
He is reportedly an owner of a motorcycle repair shop in Maligawatta and a relative of a criminal gang member alias “Panchikawatte Neville”.
The police said he had previously received death threats against his business operations.
The gang of “Keselwatta Dinuka” is believed to have carried out the shooting. Maligawatta Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
