‘Red’ landslide warning issued for Pasbage Korale; Amber and Yellow early warnings for several areas

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued a ‘Level 03’ red alert for landslide risks in Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat Division in the Kandy District.

The relevant landslide early warning will be in effect until 1.00 p.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 05).

The warning states that since the rainfall within the past 24 hours has exceeded 150mm, if the rains continue, people residing in the above area are advised to evacuate to safer locations to avoid the risk of landslides, slope failures, cutting failures and ground subsidence.

Meanwhile, the NBRO has also issued Level 02 ‘Amber’ landslide early warnings and also Level 01 warnings to several areas in Galle, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Matara, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura Districts.

Accordingly, people living in these areas are urged to be on alert about the possibility of landslides, slope failures, rock falls, cutting failures and ground subsidence.
