Water supply in several areas disrupted due to island-wide power outages

December 9, 2023   08:16 pm

The water supply in several areas has been either disrupted or is being supplied at low-pressure due to the ongoing islandwide power outage.

Accordingly, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) reported that while the water required for essential services is being supplied by bowsers, those localities in which there are generators for water supply, remain unaffected.

The NWSDB further noted that efforts are afoot to restore the water supply in localities that do not have generators for water supply.

Earlier this evening (09 Dec.),  major power outages were reported across the country due to a breakdown in the transmission line from Kotmale to Biyagama.
