Special tsunami commemoration train begins journey from Colombo Fort

A special train journey has commenced from Colombo Fort Railway Station to Beliatta this morning (Dec. 26) in memory of the victimized train passengers and railway employees during the Tsunami tragedy on December 26, 2004, at Peraliya Railway Station.

This special commemoration train has left Maradana railway station at 6.25 a.m. this morning and from Colombo Fort railway station at 6.50 a.m.

The train has reportedly started its journey with the no. 591 train engine, which was involved in the Tsunami train wreck in 2004 at Peraliya Railway Station.

The officials of the Colombo Fort railway station also paid floral tributes within the train, Ada Derana reporter said.

The train will also stop for ten minutes at Pareliya railway station for passengers to pay floral tributes at the tsunami memorial.
