TRCSL issues warning: Verify mobile phone registration before purchase

December 27, 2023   04:26 pm

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has issued a warning to the public to confirm TRCSL registration when purchasing mobile phones.

Menaka Pathirana, TRCSL Compliance Director, advised individuals to verify that the phone in question is TRCSL-registered before making a purchase.

To confirm if a mobile phone is registered with the TRCSL, Pathirana revealed that individuals can send an SMS with the IMEI number of the phone.

To check the registration status, send an SMS with the format “IMEI enter the 15-digit IMEI number” to 1909.
