‘Yukthiya’ operation leads to arrest of 836 more suspects

A total of 836 more suspects have been arrested by Sri Lanka’s police and security forces personnel within a 24-hour window ending at 12.30 a.m. today (Jan. 29) as part of the ongoing countrywide anti-drug operation ‘Yukthiya’.

Meanwhile, detention orders have been secured against six of the arrested individuals, while another person has been referred for rehabilitation, the Ministry of Public Security said.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, the narcotics taken into custody during this period include 142 grams of heroin, 95 grams of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and 1,650 narcotic pills.
