Immunoglobulin scandal: Addl Health Secretary gives confidential statement to magistrate

The Additional Secretary of the Health Ministry Dr. Saman Ratnayake, who was recently arrested by the CID and remanded over the procurement of substandard medicine, has reportedly made a 4-hour-long confidential statement to the Maligakanda Magistrate today (06).
Dr. Saman Ratnayake was produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate today, and reportedly made a confidential statement for around four hours, before being escorted back to remand prison.
On Friday (March 01), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprehended him in connection with the substandard human intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) procurement scandal. He was ordered remanded after being produced at court the following day.
Meanwhile on Friday, the Additional Health Secretary had stated before the courts that he was willing to make a confession regarding the matter, following which the court ordered him to be separated from the other arrested suspects in the case.
