Gamini Lokuge elected chair of Committee on Banking and Financial Services

Member of Parliament Gamini Lokuge has been unanimously elected as the new Chairman of the Committee on Banking and Financial Services for the Fifth Session of the Ninth Parliament. 

The first meeting of the Committee on Banking and Financial Services for the Fifth Session of the Ninth Parliament was held yesterday (01).

The name of Gamini Lokuge was proposed by Member of Parliament Kokila Gunawardena and seconded by Member of Parliament Udaya Gammanpila. 

Gamini Lokuge chaired this committee in the fourth session of the Ninth Parliament. 

Addressing the meeting, the Chair expressed his gratitude to all the Members of Parliament who supported this committee during the previous session and said that he expects that all members will continue to support the committee in the future as well. 

Also, the new Chair added that this committee paid more attention to the cooperative sector and a report containing recommendations for the advancement and solving the crises in the cooperative financial sector will be submitted to Parliament in the future. 

State Minister Anupa Pasqual, Members of Parliament Chamal Rajapaksa, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, B.Y.G. Mr. Ratnasekara, Sampath Athukorala, Karunadasa Kodituvakku and Yadamini Gunawardena were present in the committee meeting.
