A special bus service is set in place from today (05) for members of the public, in view of the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year season, Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) said.

The SLTB explained that measures have been taken to deploy around 200 additional buses during the festive season for people in Colombo and suburbs who are visiting their hometowns.

Accordingly, this bus service will be operational from Colombo to all parts of the island.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Railways also stated that special trains will operate for long distance journeys from April 10. Under this service, around 12 additional train journeys are added to the schedule daily.

The special train services will be available for the general public until April 15.
