Woman drowns, husband missing while bathing in Victoria Reservoir

A woman has drowned while her husband is reported missing while they were bathing in the Victoria Reservoir at Kumbukkandura in the Teldeniya police area. 

Police said that the deceased is a 22-year-old woman and that her missing husband is 28 years old while they are residents of Thihariya.

According to police, they were among a group of individuals bathing at the location, during a visit to the deceased’s hometown, when they had both gone underwater suddenly owing to strong currents. 

The young woman’s body has been recovered while police and residents in the area have launched a search operation to locate her missing husband, who is also feared drowned.
