Decision on University Executive Officers’ strike

The Union of University Executive Officers has signaled its intent to intensify ongoing trade union actions should no permanent solution is received for their issues during the discussions to be held today (08).

The Union of University Executive Officers launched a trade union action on May 03 protesting against the salary reductions.

Commenting in this regard, Senior Secretary of Colombo University and Patron of the Union of University Executive Officers Sampath Udayanga said that during today’s discussion, the cabinet paper pertaining to the their salary cuts will be reviewed and a solution is expected in the near future.

He also mentioned that a protest will be held in conjunction with the strike today.

Meanwhile, K.L.D.G. Richmond, the Co-secretary of the Inter-University Trade Union Federation stated that the ongoing strike of university non-academic staff continues today for the seventh consecutive day.
