Youth arrested with Kush cannabis worth over Rs. 20m at BIA

A Sri Lankan passenger arriving from Thailand has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake last night for the possession of more than 05 kg of Kush cannabis. 

The suspect, a 32-year-old resident of Homagama, was arrested by Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers at the airport after 05 kilograms and 278 grams of Kush cannabis was found concealed inside his luggage. 

The Kush cannabis, with an estimated street value of over Rs. 20 million, had been packed into 36 separate parcels and hidden inside his luggage, Ada Derana reporter said.

The arrested passenger, who is a dancer by professions, had arrived at BIA at around 10.40 p.m. last night (08) from Bangkok, Thailand onboard an AirAsia flight.

The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) is conducting further investigations into the arrested suspect.
