Man arrested with smuggled cigarettes worth Rs. 500,000 at BIA

The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake have seized a large consignment of smuggled cigarettes, valued at around Rs. 500,000 along with a suspect.

The arrested suspect has been identified as a 29-year-old resident of Colombo, the police said. 

Subsequent investigations have uncovered that the suspect had smuggled the cigarettes by illegal means from Dubai into Sri Lanka.
