Passenger arrested with ‘Gold Gel’ worth Rs. 40 million at BIA

Officers attached to the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs have arrested a passenger at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake with ‘Gold Gel’ weighing nearly 2 kilograms and estimated to be worth around Rs. 40 million. 

The arrested suspect, a 25-year-old youth, had arrived from Dubai onboard an Emirates Airline flight at around 8.30 a.m. this morning (9). 

The suspect has reportedly hidden the three parcels containing the ‘Gold Gel’ in his shoes and underwear. 

The total weight of the gold gel seized by Customs officers is 1,975 grams and the value is estimated to be Rs. 40 million.

Further investigations regarding this arrest are being conducted by the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs.
