Heavy showers about 100 mm expected today

The Department of Meteorology says that showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of the island after 2.00 p.m. today (10).

In its latest weather forecast, the department stated that heavy showers of about 100mm are likely at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa district.

Meanwhile, showers may occur at several places in Western and Southern provinces and in Puttalam, Mannar, Kilinochchi and Jaffna districts during the morning too.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers, according to the Met. Department.
