A tragic incident where a toddler had died after choking on a piece of carrot has been reported from the Saliyawewa area.

The deceased, Saveen Dulsanda, is a one-and-half-year-old boy, Ada Derana reporter said.

The incident has taken place while the child’s mother was cooking, and his four-year-old sister, unaware of the potential danger, had fed him a piece of carrot.

Unfortunately, the piece of carrot had become lodged in the child’s throat, and despite attempts by the parents to remove it they had been unsuccessful.

Subsequently, the child was immediately rushed to the Nochchiyagama Hospital via an ambulance. However, despite continuous efforts to save him, the child had passed away while being transferred to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
