French Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jean-François Pactet passes away

The Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives, Jean-François Pactet, has reportedly passed away in his official residence in Rajagiriya today (26).

The diplomat was 53-years-old at the time of his passing.

Ambassador Pactet had passed away due to a sudden illness, according to sources.

Born in 1970, Jean-François Pactet had served as Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives since October 2022.

A career diplomat, he had previously served as Deputy Director of Culture and Education in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Prior to this, Jean-François Pactet had been posted at the French Embassy to the United States in Washington (2012-2016) and at the French Permanent Representation to NATO in Brussels. He was also a Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France.
