Sri Lanka Police today announced that applications for police clearance certificates can now be submitted through the usual online procedure as the digital data system has been restored.

Police clearance certificates issued by Police Headquarters are processed by the Police Clearance Division located on the 17th floor of the Suhurupaya Building, Battaramulla.

The submission of applications, requesting of relevant reports and issuance of clearance certificates are carried out through a digital data system.

The system became inactive at 12.50 p.m. on August 20, 2026. Following notification to the Sri Lanka Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), necessary measures were taken to restore the system, the Police Media Division said.

Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Police informs the public that applications for police clearance certificates can now be submitted through the usual online procedure.

Previously, applicants were permitted to submit applications through the temporary procedure using the email address: clear.application@police.gov.lk

Applicants who used this temporary method are requested to make the relevant payments as usual and resubmit their applications through the online system now that the data system has been restored.
