
Police say nearly 463 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) recovered from two containers at the Colombo Port is estimated to be worth more than Rs. 8 billion.
The raid was carried out jointly by the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) based on information received by police.
Two suspicious containers were inspected and opened with the assistance of Sri Lanka Customs, following which the suspected narcotics were weighed.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Ashoka Dharmasena said the quantity weighed so far is estimated at approximately 463 kilograms.
A businessman from Dematagoda has been arrested in relation to the incident.
