22 hospitalised after private bus overturns in Minneriya

At least 22 individuals have been hospitalised following an accident involving a private bus on the Polonnaruwa–Habarana main road in the ‘Devala Wanguwa’ area near the seventh mile post in Minneriya.
The accident occurred at around 4:45 a.m. today (10), when the bus travelling from Medirigiriya to Colombo veered off the road and overturned into a nearby canal.
According to the Minneriya Police, 22 people injured in the accident were admitted to the Habarana and Hingurakgoda hospitals for treatment.
Police said the location is known as an accident-prone area, with the bus coming off the road and falling into the canal located nearby.
Further investigations into the accident are underway.
