Action to be taken against witness for giving false evidence in Yoshitha’s case – AG tells court

The Attorney General has informed the Colombo High Court that action will be taken against a witness who allegedly provided false evidence in the case filed against Yoshitha Rajapaksa under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
When the case was taken up for hearing today (10), Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara, appearing for the Attorney General, drew the court’s attention to the fact that a witness named Palitha Gamage was giving evidence contradicting the statement he had previously provided to the police.
Accordingly, the Deputy Solicitor General informed the court that action would be taken against the witness on charges of giving false evidence.
The court subsequently ordered that the witness be released on bail.
