IMF agrees to support Sri Lanka Customs’ paperless declaration system

A special discussion has been held to brief representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the paperless Customs Declaration Processing System scheduled to be implemented by Sri Lanka Customs from October 01, 2026.    

 

The discussion was held at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon (11) under the chairmanship of Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).

 

During the discussion, officials from Sri Lanka Customs and the Revenue Administration, Reform and Modernization Division provided a comprehensive briefing to the IMF representatives on the paperless Customs declaration system, the awareness programmes related to its implementation and the technical preparedness of Sri Lanka Customs.  

 

The IMF representatives commended the contribution made by Sri Lanka Customs and the Revenue Administration, Reform and Modernization Division of the Presidential Secretariat towards implementing the system.

 

They also agreed to provide the necessary support to ensure the successful implementation of the programme.

 

Senior Additional Secretary of the Revenue Administration, Reform and Modernization Division of the Presidential Secretariat, Seevali Arukgoda, Director General of Sri Lanka Customs Wimal Liyanage, and senior officials from the Revenue Administration, Reform & Modernization Division and Sri Lanka Customs attended the discussion.

 

Representing the IMF, Dinar Prihardini and Klakow Akepanidtaworn participated in the meeting.
