The Court of Appeal will deliver its order on November 27 on whether to grant leave to proceed with a writ petition filed by former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General (Retd.) Suresh Sallay, challenging his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
The order was announced today (18) by a two-judge bench comprising Court of Appeal President Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya and Justice Priyantha Fernando, following the conclusion of oral submissions in the case.
Presidential Counsel Sanjeewa Jayawardena, appearing for the petitioner, concluded his reply submissions today.
The Court also directed the parties to file any written submissions by October 20, Ada Derana reporter said.
The bench further stated that its order on whether leave would be granted to proceed with the petition, along with its decision on the requests for interim relief, would be delivered on November 27.
