Man found dead after falling into Ritigaha Oya
A 44-year-old man has died after falling into the Ritigaha Oya as its water level rose rapidly following heavy rainfall this morning (20).
The deceased was identified as a resident of Ampagala.
He reportedly fell into the Ritigaha Oya near Polkotuwa Junction, along the Avissawella–Bulathkohupitiya road. Following a special search operation conducted by area residents and the Ruwanwella Police, his body was recovered from a water-filled pit downstream from the location where he had fallen.
Ruwanwella Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be carried out at the Karawanella Base Hospital.
