Police have arrested the driver of a luxury car and two women after the vehicle allegedly failed to stop despite repeated orders from police officers in Giriulla.
According to the Police Media Division, officers signalled the driver to stop the vehicle for inspection. However, the driver allegedly ignored the signals and continued driving at high speed.
Police officers pursued the vehicle and repeatedly instructed the driver to stop. When he allegedly failed to comply, police opened fire, but the vehicle continued moving.
The car was eventually intercepted in the Pannala town after a police jeep and several other vehicles were positioned across its path.
After the vehicle was stopped, the driver allegedly refused to open the doors despite being ordered to do so by police officers who displayed T-56 firearms.
Police subsequently broke the glass of the vehicle's front-left door, following which the driver opened the door.
The driver and the two women inside the vehicle were then taken into custody.
Police also recovered a small quantity of suspected narcotics from the possession of the driver.
All three suspects are residents of the Giriulla area.
The Giriulla Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
